Sing to me of novians,
Novians brought ever so low……………

Well the game has improved a bit with the dropping of the weight of stored novians. This idea FINALLY manifested again in game mechanics is truly a nice tiny step in the right direction. The actuality tho it is only a TINY step from what it can and SHOULD be.
Novians were used formerly by the Gods to make merge more manageable for Their Purposes. Never think for a moment it was for our benefit, our needs or at our request. Only common sense is needed to figure out why for a profit oriented business, which Istaria IS, would implement novians. I will not bore any of us why it was done at the time which was not our fault!!!!
So what about novians then would enhance the game, make life easier and not disturb “game balance” as the reason the Gods have so blithely used in the past to neutralize so many things in this game?
HEAR YE HEAR YE these tales of woe………….Ever try building a structure when the builders lived in a different time zone? Ever tried making arrangements for a building contract with pre- and post-payments upon structure completion? Ever been caught in those little spots of trying to get a message to someone who is a part time player, not necessarily in a guild? Ever get really frustrated when you did not have the building skill to finish out the structure yourself because the reliability of the individual you had counted on did not turn out well? Ever been caught in that sweet little spot that because the individual that you had counted on Increased cost of your contractual arrangement for whatever the reason and now you still had sticks weeks later? Ever see the presence of builders diminish to nothingness and you HATE to build. No building is occurring because you do not have enough cash? No building is occurring because there are no builders to build it? Anyone out there got stuck with having to get a building skill that you DETEST just to have a “home”? It has been said “a man home is his castle”….(oops sorry that is a different future thread) It is because we have these questions and situations that changes to the current novian policy is needed and necessary.
Now the Gods have mandated that you can set an amount in coin per applied unit on that structure of yours and that this would “solve” all the above stated situations and not “disturb game balance”, but this in fact does not take into consideration the situations that we find ourselves needing with our building projects.
There has never been a catch all solution to all things associated with human behavior,……and all those tales of woe set forth in the above questions are clear examples of WHY the current novian policy does not work. Hogwash and balderdash!!So therefore oh ye readers, what about novians?
1. Novians need to be weightless and NOW they are.
2. Novians need to be NONattuned, tradeable, but they are NOT (although some might say that this can be achieved by trading plots, applying and trading back, but this is far too time consuming and problematic with the issues that plots have been having recently.
3. Novians need to be creatable and sellable by players to help those who are adventurers and not builders, but they are not.
4. Novians need to be appliable by player customers even if they are NONbuilders after they are bought, but they are not as yet.
5. Novians needs to be 100% recoverable from ALL trashed structures.
So, what is the rationale?
Do you like dynamic negotiations? Do you like barter and trade associated with RP or without it? Do you like the idea of making good money? Do you always have time to be on hand to add to another structure outside your time zone of play for that contract amount promised? Do you want to develop those wonderful skill(s) in _building_, rather than killing your favorite mobs, looting the fallen undead who traffic in stolen and ill-begotten goods? Do you wish to grub in a cave, spend hundreds of hours gathering, or dodge mobs while you accumulate DP’s just to be able to build the house plot of your dreams?
WELL NOW!!The gods manifested all of those things about novians except being able to create them. All the rest has already been DONE in this game. No new programming is required except for number 5. The needs of the game have changed. The numbers playing this game are less than 3 years ago. Lots of people quit over seeing their loss of hundreds if not thousands of hours of labour go up in smoke in that 20%. Many quit due to not being able to get their plots built, and soured over the necessity of having to develop skill(s) they did NOT want due to the player base diminishing and those building skills that they had went with them.
BE BOLD!! BE DARING!! Ticket your support representative for your input, and shout thy anguish to the Gods above. Who knows? Someone up there might actually listen. And then?
The Gods may just say, “Let there be novians and let the world be blessed with them abundantly.” That the lands may flourish and the mortal players shall be appeased with the work of their hands not lessened for the sake of the non-enlightened desk and board mongers!
